Easter

at St John’s Hollington with St Peter & St Paul

Sunday 29th March

Palm SUNDAY

JOINT SERVICE AT ST PETER & ST PAUL, PARKSTONE ROAD │ 10:30am with lunch after the service.

NB: there will be no service at St John’s on this Sunday.

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of ‘Holy Week’, the final week of the season of Lent, where we recall Jesus entry into Jerusalem the week before his death, where He was met by the crowds with honour and praise through the waving of palm branches. We’ll be coming together as a whole parish to worship in unity as we prepare to head into the ‘deepest’ part of the Christian year, celebrating the paschal mystery of Christ’s death and resurrection.

Thursday 2nd April

Maundy thursDAY

SERVICE AT ST PETER & ST PAUL, PARKSTONE ROAD │ 19:30

The first day of the ‘Paschal Triduum’, Maundy Thursday takes its name from the Latin word mandatum, meaning a mandate or an injunction, reflecting the words of Christ at the last Supper, “A new commandment, I give unto you, that you love one another, as I have loved you.” Maundy Thursday is a remembrance of several other things too; Jesus washing the feet of his disciples, the institution of the Eucharist, His agony in the garden of Gethsemane, His betrayal by Judas Iscariot, and His subsequent arrest. We will be gathering at P&P for a contemplative candlelit service of Holy Communion.

Friday 3rd April

Good FRIDAY

12noon - 18:00

P&P will be open during the afternoon of Good Friday as a space for prayer and contemplation. We will have prayer stations that you may work through based on the seven last words spoken from the Cross (taken from each of the four Gospels).

EVENING SERVICE @ ST JOHN’S, HOLLINGTON
19:30 - 21:00

Join us for another contemplative candlelit service at St John’s as we celebrate the Christ’s victory on the Cross over Sin and death.

Sunday 5th April

EASTER SUNDAY

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed.

To celebrate the joy of Easter we have services in both churches at the usual time. We’ll be celebrating Holy Communion and a baptism at St John’s, and at St Peter & St Paul we’ll have a family friendly service of the word.

We’d love to see you there.
